Baby Face

Okay, so it's not baby face-- you remember that doll head stuck on spider legs in Toy Story? Anyway, I had the idea to paint a day of the dead skull in a tree. The teeth would be calla lilies, the outline of the face would be branches, etc. Well, didn't turn out quite that way-- but, I think it's still cool-- even if it does remind me of baby face.

Happy Halloween!!

New Stuff

So, we have finally unpacked to the point where the house is livable and I can paint. So, I started painting a bit. I have two pieces ready for steaming. Here's one so far.

Lovers and Dancers

These are details from a silk scarf I painted a while ago. In the center the boy skeleton gives calla lilies to his love, while you see musicians and dancers on either side in the graveyard.

Square Scarf

So, here's a new scarf I'm working on. It's 3 feet by 3 feet. There are 4 skeletons on it and they are holding hands. I had attempted one before, but it didn't work out, but after the other two square quilts I attempted a day of the dead scarf on a square again. This time I'm very pleased with how it's turning out. I'm thinking after steaming and finishing that I'll photograph it to make a card.
